New IBC Registration

Any organization conducting modern biotechnology activities must establish an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) which is registered with the National Biosafety Board (NBB).

Registration Process
Fill in the Form G (NBB/IBC/20/FORM G) and submit the completed form to the following:

Department of Biosafety
Level 4, Block F11, Complex F

Please retain a copy of your registration form.

Fee
No fee for registration of IBC

Description:
These guidelines provide methods for establishing IBCs, the role of IBCs and the processes to be followed when obtaining, using, transferring, storing or disposing of LMO/recombinant DNA material. It also provides a description of the relevant rules and procedures. Other information available in these guidelines are such as the responsibilities of the Biological Safety Officer (BSO) and researchers, IBC expertise, a description of the types of assessments that IBCs need to conduct, actions required to report incidents, injuries and other information.
