Evaluation and Research Section (SNP) |
Objective
- Manage and ensure the evaluation of emission approval applications for activities related to Living Modified Organism (LMO) is implemented;
- Manage and ensure the evaluation of notification applications for activities related to Living Modified Organism (LMO) for contained use and export is implemented;
- Manage research and development (R&D) activities related to Biosafety;
- Manage, plan and implement communication, education and public awareness activities (Communication, Education & Public Awareness, CEPA) related to Biosafety;
- Provide technical input for Biosafety related issues; and
- Manage the appointment of members of the Genetic Modification Advisory Committee (GMAC) under the Biosafety Act 2007 [Act 678].

Enforcement and Monitoring Section (SPP) |
Objective
- Plan, coordinate and monitor enforcement activities at national entrances and on premises;
- Conducting compliance monitoring with the Terms and Conditions of the National Biosafety Board (NBB) approval in laboratories/research premises and field test areas as well as LMO detection activities in the market;
- Coordinate amendments to the Act and the preparation of new Rules/Guidelines related to enforcement;
- Conduct investigations into offenses under the Biosafety Act 2007 as well as manage prosecution cases; and
- Manage the appointment of enforcement officers and analysts under the Biosafety Act 2007.

Corporate and Management Section (SKP) |
Objective
- Provide support services and facilitate other Sections in the Department;
- To ensure that all aspects of security, which includes all staff of the Department, documents/information and Government property are always preserved and secured;
- Manage financial allocation, management and development for all programs and activities to achieve the vision and mission of the Department and establish efficient financial management;
- Plan and manage procurement of supplies and services in accordance with current procurement and financial procedures;
- Manage and monitor the implementation of development projects to run smoothly according to the time period;
- Coordinate and update information on the implementation of the Department's projects in the Project Monitoring System (SPPII);
- Manage and coordinate human resource related matters;
- Coordinate and manage the needs for capacity development of the Department's staff;
- Coordinate inquiries and complaints on issues involving the Department and biosafety;
- Manage and implement the promotion and publicity of the Department and public relations services;
- Coordinate issues related to integrity in the Department; and
- Coordinate the needs and improve the management efficiency of Information and Communication Technology (Information and Communication Technology -ICT).

Integrity Unit |
Objective
- Manage matters related to integrity in the Department so that initiatives to institutionalize integrity, prevention, compliance, misconduct detection and punitive action can be implemented in a more focused, planned, efficient, and achieve optimal results.
