Notification for Export of Modified Living Organisms (LMO)
Notifications need to be sent to export living modified organisms (LMOs). This is in compliance with the Biosafety Act 2007.
The applicant is responsible for complying with the requirements of the LMO importing country to import LMO into that country and provide proof of such compliance to the Department of Biosafety together with Form F.
Applicants are also subject to any relevant Malaysian legislation governing exports and foreign trade.
LMO can be exported only after obtaining a letter of acceptance from the Director General of Biosafety.
Upon receipt of the letter of acceptance, the approved exporter is exempted from sending another Notification if the next exported LMO meets the following conditions:
- The same LMO is exported
- LMO is exported to the same country
- LMO is exported for the same purpose
