Application for Approval for Release of Modified Living Organisms (LMO) and LMO Products (Other than Field Trials)
All release activities involving living modified organisms (LMO) as well as LMO products need to obtain a Certificate of Approval from the National Biosafety Board prior to commencing activities. Release activity is the deliberate introduction of LMO and LMO products into the environment.
Apart from field experiments, other activities that are considered as release activities are as follows:
– Supply or offer to supply for sale or placing on the market
– Offer as a gift, winning prize or free item
– Disposal
– Remediation purposes
- Any other activity not carried out in a contained environment

The payment method is through remittance or bank draft under the name Secretary General, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability and sent along with the application form.

Description:
This form is used to carry out release activities involving living modified organisms (LMOs) consisting of higher plants as well as LMO plant products. LMO plants and LMO plant products can be imported for release activities or locally produced for the purpose of release activities.
b) Form D (Approval for Release Activities (Second Schedule 2-6) of LMO other than a Higher Plant and Product of such Organism)
Description:
This form is used to carry out release activities involving living modified organisms (LMO) other than plants as well as the product of such LMOs. LMOs other than plants and products of such LMOs can be imported for release activities or locally produced for the purpose of release activities.
